- Linkage adjusted improperly
- Weak or broken pressure springs
- Distorted pressure plate
- Throwout bearing (aka release bearing) riding release levers
- Pressure plate binding on studs
- Clutch parts binding
- Release mechanism binding
- Overloaded clutch
